Zumba – The dance Party Workout!

I did Zumba as a part of my fitness class some 8 years ago. I enjoyed it a lot. One hour class and it really is a party! It never felt like a workout. I would sweat like crazy and yet never feel that I had to drag myself to exercise.

I moved to a new city and sadly never came across a zumba class close by. So it was back to the gym. That of course has its own benefits. Strength training is also essential and challenging. But it does not have the fun of a Zumba class. And I always love to add a bit of cardio to my routine and the treadmill cross-trainers in the gym are no match once you have had the fun of a Zumba workout.

I had been practicing Zumba at home during lockdown. Gyms have been closed and we are stuck at home. To indulge in cardio I started playing some music and doing my version of Zumba at home. I did remember a lot of moves from my previous class and I had a part of the playlist.

It was fun and I would sweat out real well. I was thinking of taking classes once things became alright, and somehow god heard me and I came across this special online instructor program. This year Zumba for the first time launched an instructor program online.

I thought about it for a couple of days before I finally signed up for the program. Having the expertise is always an added advantage when you when to guide people. And the certification helped me with that.

Its been over a month now that I got certified. I love everyday wearing my shoes and practicing my moves. I am on my way to taking my first online class, hopefully soon.

If you have not tried Zumba I suggest you do give it a try. You do not need to know dance to Zumba, you just need a desire to workout and have fun. In no time you will be addicted to it and workout time will be your favorite time of the day.

Dancing has many benefits. It is an exercise and an instant mood changer. There always are some days when I would not be in the best of my moods and would want to skip working out… All I had to do on such a day was to put on my playlist and I would find my body moving and the smile coming back.

Dance moves the stagnant energy in your body. That in turn helps to uplift your mood. Though every workout has its own benefits. I love this one especially for the joy it brings and the fun element.

    Zumba is a great workout, but somehow I’m a very earthy and slow person, so I prefer sticking to yoga for myself. I did try it 2 years back, but it was too fast for me. Congratulations to you for getting the certification and all the best for your classes.

    • Thank you so much ? I can understand… Not everyone would like those fast moves. I love yoga too and I love to start my sessions fast and end them with yoga and meditation. Do try that sometime.
      The moment of energy that happens in a zumba dance class helps you achieve even more stillness in your yoga ?
